Behind every depression lies a concern
Sleep disorders, restlessness, anxiety, despair, inner emptiness, constant fatigue, difficulty concentrating, feelings of guilt, feelings of failure, indecisiveness, lack of energy and so on… these can all be symptoms of depression.
Understanding your own depression
Unlike occasional bouts of depression or sadness, depression makes it almost impossible to lead a normal life. Thoughts, feelings, behavior, and even physical processes are drastically altered. This type of depression doesn't simply disappear—it requires professional, psychotherapeutic help.
Why me?
Why people become depressed is not yet fully understood, as many factors interact and the progression varies from person to person.
It's clear that specific, extremely stressful life circumstances can trigger depression. In many cases, depression arises when numerous problems and stressors converge at once and massively overwhelm the person. The person withdraws and falls into a state of "mental rigidity."
Another critical point are transitional phases in life such as moving out of the parental home, separation from a partner, pregnancy, motherhood, unemployment, retirement, etc. In these cases, too, excessive demands can arise, which bring with them fears and worries.
The insidious thing about depression is the apparent hopelessness, which makes it difficult to escape the downward spiral.
You only see your shadow when you turn your back to the sun. – Khalil Gibran
Treatment options for depression
Through psychotherapy, you will learn, step by step and in a safe environment, to reconnect with yourself. You will discover what is blocking you in your life, what is separating you from yourself, and what nourishes and enlivens you.
I work with you through your self-doubt, fears, limiting beliefs (e.g., "You're too stupid for anything!", "You'll never make it!", etc.), or worries, and support you in freeing yourself from them. Once you (again) consciously feel and express your feelings, your life energy can flow within you again, and you can build up enough strength at your own pace to take control of your life and live it.
Perhaps today is the day you've had enough of the tormenting thoughts and negative feelings and want to take the first step in a new direction. I'd be happy to accompany you on your journey!
